What should I know as an international student?

Creating a startup as an international student is do-able, but you should definitely talk with the experts first. Because regulations regarding visas and issues of work authorization change frequently, we do not want to post information here that may become out of date quickly.

A great place to start is to make an appointment with an advisor at International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) here at the University of Illinois. You can either call 217-333-1303 or use the ISSS online scheduling system to make an appointment. They can help you learn what options are best for you.

The Technology Entrepreneur Center (TEC) also holds an International Students, Visas, & Starting a Company seminar each year. You can email TEC at tec@illinois.edu to find out when the next seminar will take place. You can view the presentation from a past seminar here.
