On the Move
Our goal is to become the leading educator and producer of student, faculty, and staff founders among U.S. public universities.

Illinois Innovates
The rich history of innovation at Illinois is at the heart of our current and future success. Our track record of supporting discovery and risk-taking has led to innovations such as the LED, MRI technology, the first web browser, and YouTube, which all have roots at Illinois.
The campuswide ecosystem we have today also has roots. Key entrepreneurship resources – including the Research Park, Office of Technology Management, Illinois Ventures, and the Technology Entrepreneurship Center – were all established here around the turn of this century, serving as the foundation for the past 25 years of growth, evolution, and success.
Interconnected – Across Campus and Beyond
From units and programs across campus to partners in the local community, Chicago, and beyond, the breadth and depth of Illinois entrepreneurship might surprise you. For the bigger picture, check out our ecosystem graphic.
The Value of a Robust Ecosystem

Propel innovation from the lab into the marketplace by bridging the gap between discovery, market introduction, and application.
Generate local and regional development by attracting investments and creating jobs.
Build strong industry partnerships that lead to sponsored research collaborations and opportunities for students.
Engage alumni entrepreneurs and investors who want to give back to the ecosystem that supported them.
Support what’s next for entrepreneurship at Illinois.
There are many ways to be a part of what’s happening in our ecosystem – giving to our campuswide entrepreneurship fund is one of them!
At Illinois, I think we've got our head in the clouds and our feet on the ground. There's something about this rich history of fundamental, basic science...but at the same time, we're willing to dream. And that's a rare combination."
